After work drinks and more!

My favourite chill out place! I love it sooo much, I have been there 3 times last week. To note, the photos are a compilation of two separate occassions.

Jugs of Grace Sangria are $15 on Friday Happy Hours (5pm-7pm) as well as on Sundays all day. =) *Woohoo* The Wagyu cheese burgers were really good too. Miniature but yum~~

They were so good, we had to get more! It makes perfect sense. This time, we ordered yummy fries too.

On another occasion, a friend ordered the fried chicken. She appearred to truly enjoy it, but here's my review on the chicken during my first visit.

I had the soft fish tacos. They tasted alright, however I found it all too messy. I wasn't able to eat the tacos without having the black beans and all the other bits falling off.

Travelogue Adelaide Day 4: Time to say goodbye with Dim Sum

So this travelogue began with a luncheon when I first landed in Adelaide. Just a few hours before my flight back to WA, we lugged my luggage to the city just to have one last food experience together. And what is better than a traditional yum cha session?

There’s such a variety here at T-Chow; there’s even quite a number of options for someone like me! Mmm…I really loved the food here. It was really tasty.

Too cute to eat! Chicken and mushroom dumplings (I think).

The not-so-pretty prawn and mushroom dumplings. It tasted alright but I think we could have done without it.

Delicious deep-fried squid - packed with 'heaty' goodness.

‘Zhar leong’ (rice flour noodles wrapped around chinese fried dough)! Oh, how I miss this.

The ever so filling seafood noodles. It was so good. This was the only thing we could not finish.

‘Dan tart’; my first love. YUM!

This was really one of the best dim sums that I've had. It’s a shame I could not take the leftover noodles back to WA. I miss it already. This place is definitely on my list for my next visit to Adelaide! *very very subtle hints to Mich*

Travelogue Adelaide Day 3: Pancakes 24-7

Instead of dressing up and dining at a restaurant prior to attending the theatre, we ended up having a late night snack at The Original Pancake Kitchen. Feast your eyes on our selection – we ordered both sweet and savoury, of course!

Blueberries on warm buttermilk pancakes which were soaked with the warm sauce from the berries and served with vanilla ice cream .

The German Feast. Pancakes with kranski sausage, bacon, tomato and two eggs! Need I say more?

The one and only, Cottage Fried Potatoes served hot with grilled ham pieces, spring onions and generously dressed with sweet chilli sauce and a dollop of sour cream.

Another good thing about this place is that you can have sweet or savoury pancakes (or both) anytime you want! Imagine pancakes for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, high tea, dinner, supper and all the snack times in between! *hearts* 24-7.

This is a definite must for me. It's on my list for a next revisit.

Travelogue Adelaide Day 3: Reminiscence

Is there a meal that you would always eat when growing up? I guess I had a variety, but one of them was chicken rice. Good old fashion chicken rice with sauce and garlicky chilli sauce.

We went to Chinatown Café to satisfy my craving for chicken rice and Mich ordered the mee goreng. Each dish costed approximately AUD$7.
My thoughts? The chicken rice was a tad dry. A bit more sauce would have been perfect, but at least it was served with broth and it was satisfying. The mee goreng was quite yummy too! I particularly liked the toufu bits in it; Mich obviously did not.

Nonetheless, this meal reminded me of home...

Travelogue Adelaide Day 3: Chocolate heaven

If it isn’t obvious enough, I love my chocolate. This just means that our tour to the Haigh’s Chocolate Factory was absolutely fantastic (I'm biased, I know).

Learning about how Haigh’s chocolates are made actually made me appreciate it even more. The different combination of cocoa beans make up that distinct flavour of your choice– dark, milk or white. And the best part? The free chocolate tastings during and after the tour! Maybe I should work there one day…

Chocolates can help you express so much more than words! Be it love, Easter holidays, Christmas holidays, thinking of you during my holiday and so much more! Hehe.

So why is Haigh’s so special? It’s unique; it’s good quality chocolate; and it's not commercialised. You can never find these in your local supermarkets. You can only find these yummilicious things in Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney. Note: Haigh’s isn’t sold in Western Australia! >.<

Come on and give it a try. You know you want it.

Travelogue Adelaide Day 3: Candy girl!

~ Sugar! Oh honey, honey! You are my candy girl! ~

This is what happens when one mentions that there’s a lolly shop nearby. Never tell me that there is a lolly shop nearby. You’ll regret it; but Mich took me anyway.
This place is amazing. It reminds me of Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, but filled with sweets instead of toys; magical. You can find all sorts of goodies here - from imported Japanese canned drinks to Mich’s Cap N’ Crunch Cereal, and let’s not forget, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!

It took me so much willpower to exit the shop with just some Salt Water Taffy and a pack of Mega Sours. I could have done a lot worse.

Travelogue Adelaide Day 3: Treasure in the city

We woke up early for this brekkie as we looked forward to this 'treasury' in the city.

I knew I had to order the breakfast pizza- duxelle mushroom, bacon, egg and shave pecorino. I obviously had a play with food too =)

Jin, being the '80% vegetarian', had to go for the only vego option which is the poached eggs with roast mushroom, truffle pecorino and toast. However, she did change her poached to scrambled eggs.

Now, how did a carnivore end up with an omnivore?

Travelogue Adelaide Day 2: Buuuuuuuuurgers!

Imagine Homer going ''Buuurgers'' instead of ''Donutssss''.

The best burgers in town, very much Americanised. We were really looking forward to it.

Avocado and Brie with handcut fries

We wanted to try everything including the milkshake. Therefore, we had to go halves with the burger and fries... well, EVERYTHING really! It was huge. I have been there a few times now, and I was really disappointed with the handcut fries this time. It was tough for them to cope with service that very night and we waited for 45 minutes. =(

Enough with the negatives. I do love the burger, as always. Oh, do try the Mighty Mushroom too if the opportunity arises.

Travelogue Adelaide Day 2: Choccies!

Being spontaneous isn’t something Mich and I can handle. Our spontaneous ‘road trip’ to McLaren Vale led us to the Medlow Confectionery & FruChoc Showcase. >.<

I recall taking a step into the factory and the smell of sugar just hit me. Before I could completely recover, I was welcomed by the staff with a selection of chocolate to taste.

There’s one setback with this factory, though. They offer a wide range of chocolate-coated lollies. Not chocolate. So if you like chocolate-coated gummy bears, chocolate-coated snakes, clangers (you get the picture), this is the place for you.

Mmm... I was bouncing off walls...

In case you are wondering, yes, I got sucked in and left the factory with a bag of honeycomb chocolate!

Travelogue Adelaide Day 1: Let’s improvise!

It was my first day in Adelaide (in 2012 that is) and we rocked up at our initial planned restaurant, starving, only to find it closed! Luckily, we had Plan B. Always have a Plan B.

We ended up at Zapata’s Mexican Restaurant. We were craving Mexican ever since missing out on my last trip to Adelaide. And we did well.

Special Nachos: Tortilla chips with cheese, jalepeno peppers, guacamole, tomato con chilli and sour cream. *hearts* You got to have nachos if you are having Mexican. It was a bit dry though; would have preferred it with a bit more sauce.

Fajitas: Beef and chicken on a sizzling hot plate accompanied by tortillas, salsa, guacamole, frijoles, sour cream and cheese. DIY wraps and catching up with the bestie. Fun times! =)

Travelogue Adelaide Day 1: Artist in Residence

Can you tell? It is a cupcake artist in residence =)

Hot Chocolate and Brownie Fudge consisting of chocolate & raspberry brownie, white chocolate and raspberry ice cream, hershey's hot chocolate fudge sauce, whipped cream and Hershey's chocolate kisses. I have to say, chocolate was so overwhelming in that sundae cup I wasn't able to taste the white chocolate and raspberry ice cream.

Curly fries!!! It is not on the menu but rather, it is on their 'special' outdoor specials board. Curly fries just does it for us, we were happy (note: extremely happy) girls. Other items to try include macarons from theMacFactory as well as homemade icecream. Well I want to try the whoopie pie next and 'everything from the kitchen sink'!!! =)

One day...

Travelogue Adelaide Day 1: AnYeong!

First of our series, Adelaide! We did our homework and it brought us here to Seoul Korean. They are really popular for their bento boxes during lunch hours. I ordered some Korean tea but Jin decided to stick to the basics of green tea.
Despite being ''famous'' for well-presented bento boxes, we went for the seafood pancake. Jin was greatly disappointed, while I tried to ''hunt'' for seafood. I briefly remembered the squid bits and that was it.
And now for the fusion dish-Korean fried rice with cheese! Reminded me heaps of my college years when cheesy fried rice was ''The Thing'', however I would have much preferred this dish with more kimchi.

We gave it much thought and wondered if we would ever come back again to Seoul Korean. Jin was definitely not interested. I thought I would, but for the bento boxes, after all the great reviews on them.
